Mean Girls?

Have you ever heard of the “angry black woman”? It’s a stereotype that portrays black women as naturally angry, ill-tempered, and sassy. In many cases, the stereotype is used to describe women who are bold and assertive. This episode features two women -- Nelisa and Janice. They tell us about being labeled “angry” and “mean” for being assertive and confident in course of doing their work. We also learn the many tricks both women use to cope with being stereotyped for simply doing their jobs.
